Inaccordance with this Mets?itto Group has signed the World Business Council forSustainable Development (WBCSD) Manifesto on energy efficiency in buildings. TheManifesto and its implementation outline several actions for companies toenhance energy efficiency in commercial buildings. Members of the WBCSD firmlybelieve that actions towards improving energy performance in buildings andcreating a demand for energy-efficient buildings can result in significantreductions in worldwide energy usage and corresponding carbon emissions."Increasing energy performance in buildings is part of Mets?itto Group's widersystematic energy efficiency programme. Signing the manifesto gives also apossibility to inform how the Finnforest eco-efficient wood-based products canhelp in reducing the climate impact of buildings. Our products for building andinterior decoration are energy efficient throughout their entire life-cycle,"says Kari Jordan, President and CEO of Mets?itto Group.The Manifesto provides Mets?itto Group a good framework for ongoingdevelopment work regarding energy efficiency in buildings. A project with theaim to develop a database for efficient management of company's real estateproperty was started in 2009. Mets?itto Groups' energy efficiency programstrives for energy and CO2 reductions in all its production units. Theseactivities are now extended to cover Group's commercial buildings. "In additionto the energy and CO2 reductions we also have the opportunity to cut operatingcosts," states Jukka Tuloisela, SVP Administration Services, Mets?itto Group.Mets?itto Group, including all its business areas, has been a WBCSD membersince 2003. The WBCSD is a unique, CEO-led, global association of some 200companies dealing with business and sustainable development. The councilprovides a platform for companies to explore sustainable development, shareknowledge, experiences and best practice, and to advocate business positions onthese issues.
