(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Winter has a firm grip on Europe and the importance of dressing correctly wasnever more apparent. Different types of activity demand different types offunctional clothing and right now we are facing many challenges overcoming thecold. Hagl?' stable basis on the layer-on-layer principle let users adaptclothing based on their activities in order to achieve optimum warmth andventilation without compromising quality and fit. Being well equipped is also agood way to describe Hagl?' development and success."Things continue to go well for Hagl?and a major reason for this is that wehave a broad offer that meets the users requirements regardless of the activity.Another equally important reason is our manifest effort to strengthen ourorganization in a way that allows us realize our goals," says Mats Hedblom,Hagl?CEO.THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE AWAY2009 was another great year for Hagl? Our success and progress was sharedacross every product area and geographical region. We have seen particularlystrong progress in important markets like Germany, Austria (+50%), Italy andSwitzerland, to name but a few. This shows that there is strong demand forHagl?products.New faces at Hagl?in Germany are Frank Blome, Sales Manager, and HarryMartin, Key Account Manager, Footwear & Hardware. Starting January 1 we willalso report Austria as a separate market, and in conjunction with this we haveappointed Thomas Blau as the new Sales Manager for Austria. All three have longinternational experience from the sports and outdoor industry and their effortswill be important for the further development of Hagl?in these importantmarkets.SUSTAINABILITY IN FOCUSHagl?' vision includes our being a leading outdoor company also in respect ofsustainability issues. An important step in these efforts is the fact thatHagl? as one of very few companies in the industry, has a dedicated role inthe management entirely focusing on these issues at the strategic level."Sustainability aspects form an entirely natural part of our productdevelopment efforts, and the proportion of products based on recycled materialsis increasing all the time. This is an area we will invest heavily in, in thefuture," says Mats Hedblom.HAGL?S SUCCESSES NO COINCIDENCEHagl?is growing and continues to win market shares. We have consciouslydeveloped our products for an active target group that invests its time andmoney in various forms of outdoor activity. The target group continues toprioritize purpose-oriented, high quality, practical products and this hascontributed to a strong demand for our products."Hagl?is enjoying success in all of its markets and in every product area. This did not happen by chance but was the result of hard work on the part of ourentire organization and our dealers. We have set our sights high, and we aim tomeet our targets with dedication and passion," concludes Mats Hedblom. The Hagl?history begins in 1914 when Victor Hagl?manufactured the firstbackpacks. Today, Hagl?produce more than one million products annually -backpacks, sleeping bags, clothes and shoes in 19 different markets acrossEurope and Japan. Among our most popular products we find the Tight-backpacks,which have sold in excess of 1.1 million. The interest in the brand is huge andover the past ten years, our sales have grown by 16% annually. Total sales for2008, amounted to 495 MSEK (52 mio EURO).In Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany and the UK, we operate our ownsales companies. In the other markets, our products are distributed throughagents or distributers. Production is mainly located in Estonia, Poland,Romania, China and Vietnam. Our fundamental view is that all economic development should be long-term andfully integrated with social and environmental aspects. For that reason, allsuppliers, and their subcontractors, who work with Hagl?must sign a documentsetting out the rules of social responsibility with which they must comply. The majority of Hagl?' more than 90 employees work in Avesta, where ourcentral warehouse is located. Since 2001, we are owned by Ratos, a listedprivate equity company.CONTACTSCEO: Mats Hedblom,mats.hedblom(at)haglofs.se CFO: Jim Jonsson,jim.jonsson(at)haglofs.se Product- and Production Director: Johnny Claus,johnny.claus(at)haglofs.seMarketing- and Sales Director: NicolasWarchalowski,nicolas.warchalowski(at)haglofs.seDirector of Sustainability: Lennart Svensson,lennart.svensson(at)haglofs.seHead of Corporate Communication: Kristin Lundmark,kristin.lundmark(at)haglofs.seOur retailers and distributors can be found atwww.haglofs.se[HUG#1380104] Press release (PDF): http://hugin.info/136193/R/1380104/339793.pdf
