Metso to supply biomass boiler to RWE npower renewables, UK
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Metso Corporation's company release on February 3, 2010 at 12:00 a.m. local timeMetso has received an order to deliver a biomass boiler to RWE npower renewablesfor a co-generation plant to be located at Tullis Russell Papermakers atMarkinch, Fife in the UK. The commercial operation is scheduled for begin 2013.The value of the order is approximately EUR 75 million, which will be includedin the Energy and Environmental Technology´s Q1 orders received.Metso´s delivery includes a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler with acapacity of 155 MW(th) and a flue gas treatment plant. The new power boiler willbe part of a co-generation plant that will supply the paper mill of TullisRussell with heat and electricity from biomass, mainly recycled wood. The plantwill have an installed capacity of 50 megawatts (MW(e)) and will replace theexisting coal-fired power plant at Tullis Russell, and thereby reducing the CO(2)emissions from the plant significantly."The combined skills and expertise of our chosen contractor Metso will be amajor asset during the construction of the new Tullis Russell biomass powerplant.
