Outokumpu appoints Hannu Hautala the head of Tornio Works
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - PRESS RELEASEFebruary 3, 2010 at 9.30 am EETMr. Hannu Hautala has been appointed Senior Vice President - Tornio Works as ofMay 2, 2010 at the latest. He will report to CEO Juha Rantanen and will succeedMr. Pekka Erkkil?ho has been temporarily responsible for Tornio Works sinceSeptember 15, 2009. Mr. Hautala will be based in Tornio, Finland.Mr. Hautala is a Finnish citizen, born 1965 and holds a Master of Science inEngineering and Industrial Economics from the University of Oulu. His latestresponsibility is managing Elcoteq's Communications Network's global operationswith business units in five different countries. His earlier positions includeManaging Director for Elcoteq Hungary Ltd., General Manager for Flextronics'businesses in Finland and senior management roles for Rautaruukki in Germany andin Raahe, Finland.The Tornio Works business unit includes the steel and ferrochrome production inTornio, the chrome mine in Kemi and a processing centre in Terneuzen, theNetherlands.CEO Juha Rantanen: "I am pleased to welcome Hannu to this demanding position asthe head of our biggest business unit. During his career, Hannu has managedplants with several thousands of employees, has international experience and hasspent a big part of his career in the steel industry. He has experience, whichwe can directly benefit from and I am confident that, together with the Tornioteam, they can build our capabilities to meet the needs of our customers."As announced earlier Mr. Pekka Erkkil?s leaving Outokumpu on May 1, 2010 atthe latest. His other duties will be shared among the existing ExecutiveCommittee members. CEO Juha Rantanen will take over the responsibility forOutokumpu's energy strategy. Deputy CEO Karri Kaitue will be responsible forenvironment, heath and quality.
