Metso to convert Domtar's fine paper machine in the USA to fluff pulp production
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Metso Corporation's company release on February 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. localtimeMetso has been contracted by Domtar Corporation to rebuild their fine papermachine at their Plymouth, North Carolina, USA, mill for fluff pulp production.The rebuild project will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2010. The valueof the order will not be disclosed. The value of these types of rebuilds rangesfrom EUR 15 to 25 million depending on the scope of the delivery. The order isincluded in Paper and Fiber Technology's Q4 of year 2009 orders received.The existing fine paper machine will be rebuilt and converted to fluff pulpproduction. Metso's delivery will include a new wet end and a rebuild of thefinishing equipment needed for fluff pulp production. The scope of supplyincludes a new wire section, a headbox equipped with a profiling system, asteambox, a new press section, and dryer modifications including a new hood aswell as reel and winder rebuilds.Domtar Corporation is the largest integrated manufacturer and marketer ofuncoated freesheet paper in North America and the second largest in the worldbased on production capacity, and is also a manufacturer of paper grade, fluffand specialty pulp.
