Imtech realizes a high-tech power plant in the Netherlands

(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Gouda, the Netherlands - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) has beencontracted by RWE Power AG to provide the technology in a new high-tech powerplant built at Eemshaven in the Netherlands. The order is worth more than 31million euro in total.Imtech CEO Ren?an der Bruggen: 'Imtech is one of Europe's stronger technicalplayers in the energy technology field. Integrating high-tech energy solutionsin our total technology approach - by combining electrical engineering with ICT(information and communication technology) and mechanical engineering - enablesus to deliver significant added value. This makes large orders possible. Amongother things Imtech is currently working in Germany on a power plant for RWE inHamm and on a combined cycle power plant for Dow Deutschland Anlagengesellschaftand EnBW in Stade near Hamburg. The contract for the new Eemshaven power plantwill drive further growth in this segment.'Two 800 MW heating stationsThe core of the new Eemshaven power plant consists of two high-tech heatingstations each with a capacity of 800 MW. These stations will be fired by coal incombination with untreated biomass and petroleum coke. The Imtech assignmentconsists of several integrated parts. So is Imtech responsible for both theheating and cooling, as well as the cooling supply, the mechanical smokeextraction system (including all smoke extraction canals). Similarly, Imtech isresponsible for the integrated measurement and control technology, whichconsists of 6,500 data points which are being installed and processed in theheating stations. This integrated approach makes an energy efficient solutionpossible. The ambient sea air will cause an extra load on the power plant. Thisnecessitates special facilities for high-quality air filtration and theprevention of corrosion.Imtech co-operationImtech is responsible for all the technological solutions, including theconcept, project management and complete planning.
