W?sil?eceives power plant order from Greek islands
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - W?sil?orporation, Press release, 27 January 2010, at 10.30 am EETW?sil?'s flexible power solution also includes state-of-the-art and costefficient emissions cleaning technology to meet the strict quality andenvironmental standards and the readiness to convert the engines to run on gas.W?sil? a leading provider of flexible decentralised power generationsolutions, has been contracted to supply the equipment and engineering for a newpower plant being built on the island of Rhodes in Greece. The order for this119 MWe power plant was placed in December and the plant is scheduled to becomefully operational during the second half of 2011.The order has been placed by Terna S.A., who has been awarded the overallproject contract by Public Power Corporation S.A., the national electricityutility of Greece. Terna S.A. is one of the three major Civil and Energycontractors in Greece.W?sil?already enjoys a leading role in supplying electricity to the islandsof the Eastern Mediterranean, and this latest order further strengthens thatposition. When installed, this power plant will bring the total output ofelectricity produced by W?sil?ngines in the Greek islands to 690 MWe, whichrepresents a majority share of the archipelago's baseload supply.The South Rhodes Power Station will generate electricity for the island's gridfrom seven W?sil?18V46 engines running on heavy fuel oil. The auxiliaryequipment and emissions cleaning system will also be supplied by W?sil?A5+5 year's maintenance contract for the power station unit is also undernegotiation."We are very pleased to co-operate with W?sil?n the construction of thepower plant of South Rhodes.
