Metso to supply energy and pulping technology to CMPC, Chile
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Metso Corporation's company release on December 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.local timeMetso has received an order to deliver energy and pulping technologyfor CMPC Celulosa S.A., Chile. The value of CMPC's investment forMetso's technology is approximately EUR 60 million. The commercialoperation is scheduled to start in 2011-2012. The most part of theorder is included in the Energy and Environmental Technology's Q4orders received. The pulping technology part of the order is includedin Paper and Fiber Technology's Q4 orders received.Metso's delivery includes a new biomass fired power boiler, aconversion of an existing recovery boiler to a biomass fired boiler,a digester rebuild and a brown stock washing upgrade. The new powerboiler as well as power boiler conversion will utilize bubblingfluidized bed (BFB) technology. The new power boiler will be part ofCMPC's Santa Fe pulp mill's energy project for green energygeneration. Rebuild of an existing recovery boiler into a biomassfuelled power boiler as well as a digester rebuild and brown stockwashing upgrade, including the installation of the press technologyare part of the Laja Mill modernization project.CMPC Celulosa S.A. is the Pulp Business Unit of Empresas CMPC S.A.,established in 1920.
