Berlin design duo „lecker. apfeltasche“ reinvents the laptop sleeve with new winter collection.

(firmenpresse) - Berlin, Nov 25th 2009 - The small yet sophisticated fashion label “lecker. apfeltasche” just
launched its new winter collection of fashionable laptop sleeves, inspired by the timeless
fairy tale “little red riding hood”. The edition of high-quality bags is limited to only 50 pieces
and sports two designs featuring characters from the popular Brother Grimm story.

Handmade in Berlin-Kreuzberg, the bags are available at selected stores in Germany’s
capital as well as online at www.leckerapfeltasche.de.

“lecker. apfeltasche” is the brain-child of Berlin born and bred design students Jackie
Blümel and Paul Stubert. Aggravated by the lack of fashionable protection for their Macs
and inspired by the ubiquitous creative spirit of their hometown, they teamed up to tailor
limited editions of durable yet stylish laptop sleeves. The unique combination of cushy
materials with unpretentious design found a quickly growing fan base among Berlin’s Mac
users and allowed the young label to further explore their creativity with the new winter
collection.

“With the new design we wanted to play with the contrast of a very minimalistic outer shell
and a playful inner lining. We’re going for a light-bulb moment once the bag is opened:
People at first only see the monochromatic hull and then discover a whole fairy tale
universe inside. In many ways, it’s a parable on the human experience…nothing is as it
seems.” explains Paul Stubert the philosophy behind the new motif. Part of that philosophy
is also to create products that first and foremost satisfy the makers themselves: “We have a
lengthy creative process and only produce items that we would use ourselves. That
includes using high-quality materials and close attention to details during the fabrication.”
says Jackie Blümel.

This attitude, standing in stark contrast to the low standards of today’s throwaway society,

is slowly catching on with consumers as well as the industry. Besides a creative
cooperation with an international fashion label, additional partners in Hamburg and Vienna
are planned to offer the “lecker. apfeltasche” bags to a broader audience.
