(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Gouda - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces thatit has been awarded (in combination) the assignment for all thesustainable technical solutions for the new headquarters of the RoyalNetherlands Army that is due to be built. The assignment represents avalue of nearly 30 million euro for Imtech.The new headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Army will be housed onthe existing grounds of the Kromhout Barracks in Utrecht. The projectresults from the decision of the Dutch Ministry of Defence tocentralise the staff of the Land Forces Command at these grounds. Atthe same time various other Defence units will be housed here,including the Services Centre Command and the Defence EquipmentCommand. Around 3,000 defence staff will be employed here.112,000m² sustainable floor areaThe commissioning party is the consortium 'Komfort', a PPP consortium(Public-Private Partnership) made up of Ballast Nedam, Strukton andJohn Laing. In a separate commercial partnership (ICK, 'InstallatieCombinatie Komfort') Imtech (lead manager) and TBI Techniek havetotal responsibility for the realisation of all the sustainableelectrical and mechanical technology solutions, including all therelated and integrated technical systems. The assignment representsfor ICK a total value of nearly 60 million euro. The new headquartersconsists of 112,000m² sustainable floor area spread over five officebuildings (with a total gross floor area of around 78,000m²), plusdiverse buildings (14,000m²) for sports, health and meetingfacilities, as well as the encampment of approximately 150 staff anda car park for around 1,000 cars and 50 motorcycles. The maximumpermitted building height is 17 metres on the area of, in total, 19hectares and with its many natural areas this combines to form anattractive green landscape environment. The urban architecturalconcept and landscape design come from Karres and Brands LandscapeArchitects, while Meyer and Van Schooten Architects are responsiblefor the design of the buildings and the interiors.High-tech and sustainableImtech and TBI Techniek's technical solutions provide high-techsecurity and countless sustainable choices, including advancedoptimisation of heating technology, storage of warmth and cold forthe benefit of heating and cooling respectively, sustainable air andclimate technology and sustainable 'green' roofs as well as anenvironmentally friendly sewer system.Completion end 2011On 20 March last Jack de Vries, secretary of state for Defence, laidthe first stone for the building of the new headquarters.
