ProRail awards contract for substructure for Utrecht Lunetten-Houten track doubling to Heijmans
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - 's-Hertogenbosch - ProRail and Heijmans have signed a contract forthe substructure of the track doubling project between UtrechtLunetten and Houten, which is a part of the Vleuten - Geldermalsensection. The rail section will be expanded from two to four tracksduring 2010 - 2014 and the Lunetten station will be completelyrenovated. The contract value is approximately ? 87.5 million.ProRail is carrying out the track doubling work under the projectname Randstadspoor. Heijmans Infrastructure will look after theconcrete works, the earthworks for widening the rail bed and theconstruction of new underpasses and overpass junctions for theUtrecht Lunetten - Houten project component. At the Waterlinieweg,near the Arnhem/'s-Hertogenbosch railway junction, two so-called'dive-under' underpasses will be built. A new traffic viaduct will bebuilt across the A27 after which the existing traffic viaduct acrossthe A27 will be converted into a railway viaduct. The level crossingat the Fortweg will be removed and replaced by a new underpass. TheNetherlands National Railway (NS) station at Lunetten will becompletely renovated and changed into a station with a centreplatform. Furthermore, a new underpass will be built at the site forcyclists and pedestrians. ARCADIS Engineering provided Heijmans withsupport during the design phase and will also provide this supportduring the implementation phase.For additional information
