SÜSS MicroTec accelerates IT processes with SAP and it.manufacturing
(firmenpresse) - SAP consultant again reports production start up in the high-tech industry
Bielefeld (Germany), December 16, 2008 – Internationally successful premium SAP provider itelligence AG implemented the comprehensive enterprise software it.manufacturing quickly and accurately for the Munich-based high-tech company SÜSS MicroTec. Around 320 users in the high-tech industry are now working with the SAP-based solution, specifically tailored to this sector.
To date, it.manufacturing has been introduced at the group’s headquarters in Garching near Munich as well as at the Oberschleissheim and Vaihingen an der Enz (both Germany) sites. Further roll-outs in Dresden, the USA and Asia are to follow. Once the roll-out has been completed, a total of 550 users will be connected via it.manufacturing.
SÜSS MicroTec is one of the leading global manufacturers of process and test solutions for the semiconductor industry. With more than 8,000 systems installed across the globe, the company has been one of the leading specialist suppliers for around 60 years. The SÜSS Group includes SÜSS MicroTec AG and its subsidiaries in Europe, North America and Asia. SÜSS MicroTec has approximately 700 employees worldwide.
In order to connect its global enterprise network with both a solution that has been developed to suit the industry and simultaneously with an ERP system that supports numerous languages and alphabets, diverse tax laws and business regulations, SÜSS MicroTec decided to implement it.manufacturing from itelligence.
“it.manufacturing has significantly accelerated, standardized and optimized our IT processes. At all stages of the project, itelligence provided us with outstanding advice and valuable support,” concluded Frank Kelmes, Director of Global Supply Chain for SÜSS MicroTec AG, referring to the strengths of the project, the advice he received and the system itself.
“We are delighted to have implemented an extensive and extremely complex IT system for our customer, a system that connects state-of-the-art technology with the specific demands of SÜSS MicroTec. During the project, SÜSS MicroTec was very careful to minimize any specific changes to the standard IT manufacturing solution,” added Eric Kilk, project manager at itelligence.
Specifically, the project involved implementing it.manufacturing in the following areas: material management, procurement, sales, production planning, production management and service as well as in HR administration including payroll, accounting and controlling. Furthermore, the CAD system was fully integrated and a PDM system was replaced. A total of eight SAP modules are currently being used at SÜSS MicroTec. it.manufacturing works together with the SAP certified HP Serviceguard Cluster solution. The operating system in place at SÜSS MicroTec is the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10. The SAP landscape is administered remotely by itelligence.
