„Trends in news production: What’s doable?“ Answers to this question are provided by top-class experts, amongst them Holger Noske, Vice President Digital Media Management at S4M – Solutions for Media, on the occasion of the 4th Symposium Newsroom in Hamburg. The event is hosted by the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT) and takes place on Oktober 25 and 26 in the premises of public broadcaster NDR.
In the context of a panel discussion on the second day of the IRT event, Noske comments on trends and possibilities in news production as seen from the perspective of a software producer developing solutions for broadcasters. Multimedia-based production for different platforms like TV, MobileTV or IPTV is a pivotal topic in the newsroom. Diverse services and devices have to be supplied at once in an as cost-efficient way as possible. In their discussion the media experts consider ways to master this challenge. One aspect is quality assurance: As a general rule, the newsroom team is pressed for time. So how to make sure every piece of information is always entered correctly into the system, even under enormous pressure? Further questions focus for example on system integration via a standardised overall data model or on future technological challenges for the newsroom.
