Christian Flühr's 11th world record – 111 hours and 11 minutes indoor
The German Christian Flühr set a new chapter of ski history with his 11th Worldrecord. He was 111 hours and 11 minutes non-stop in the world largest ski-dome,
(firmenpresse) - SnowWorld Landgraaf, on his skis and advanced his own record form 2007 of 103 hours. On Saturday, 20th September 2008, he reached his aimed. The man, who collects world records like stamps, got a new triumph. He skied 111 hours an 11 minutes in SnowWorld Landgraaf and stand 8 hours longer on his ski than during his 2007 record. Sylvie Maier from Altötting (Germany), who started a little bit later, advanced the female endurance indoor world record to 33 hours.
Christian Flühr did not let any doubt, that he wants to have this new record in the last season of his career. Mr. marathonski`s physical fitness was in a wonderful shape, the doctors, who assisted Christian during his record, were very happy on his state. “Christian is in a really good shape. His physical fitness can only astonish everybody.” Says Christian’s doctor Dr. Christian Schmidt.
The torture of the indoor endurance record attempt began very early Thursday morning, 16th September 2008, 3 o’clock in the morning. The ski-racer shows on his first runs directly, that he raises his condition, power and technique compared to the last winter. “I noticed two day in before the attempt that I can do things on my skis, I did not do before. It is a great pleasure to ski.” Christian says very happy. But according to his physical fitness this record was no easy venture. In SnowWorld Landgraaf the 6-chair lift is only 520 m long and in the ski-dome there is a temperature of -5°C 24 hours a day, without any sunlight only artificial light. “But it is wonderful, that there is such an area, but there not any chance to do a record like I did in January 2008 outdoor with 264 hours. I have on the uphill time to sleep and that is with 520 m to short.” Reports the ski-world-record-champion. Christian Flühr skied in at Obergurgl (Austria) January 2008 264 hours outdoor and has got beside the indoor record also the outdoor one. In 2009 he will do another attempt to advance his record again for the 9th time during his unique ski-career.
When Christian came on 18.11 on 20th September 2008 to the finish in Landgraaf it was the 4th last chapter of Christian’s Worldrecord attempts. It was another great success, but Christian did not celebrate the record like the other in the past. “I say thank you to all people, who were involved, they all did there best: My team, the people at SnowWorld Landgraaf . It was on the one side the best organized attempt of all times, but on the other hand there was a big mistake in my private life during this record. That’s a pity and I am thinking on this topic. But I am happy that I got this record again and I face myself for three further attempts during winter 2008/09!” means Christian.
In this winter Christian will set a new record in the biggest altitude in 12 hours, the most used ski-lifts on one day and finally 12 day non-stop skiing outdoor. In Landgraaf Christian’s team did the first meetings with some ski-resorts who are interested in these attempts.
