Inter Airport India 2008: DFS presents its solutions in India
The German air navigation service provider DFS will, for the first time, present its consulting services, training and own proven solutions in India at the Inter Airport exhibition from 11 to 13 September.
(firmenpresse) - At the German pavilion (hall 12, stand A 101), DFS will place a special focus on its multi-radar and air situation data processing and display system Phoenix. The system is now implemented at more than 17 international and 10 regional airports in Germany. It is also used as a fallback radar tracking system at DFS and by the Portuguese air navigation service provider in the Lisbon control centre. DFS started developing the system in 2002 and is continually adding new functions and modules.
The Linux-based tracker is an open, modular system and runs on a single laptop as well as in a network with 120 clients. It processes data of up to 50 radar stations simultaneously and has a capacity of 3,000 tracks. Components of the Phoenix product family comprise a controller working position display system, a multi-radar and data fusion tracker; it has functionalities for administrative purposes and analyses, as well as a flight information system. Flight plan data, weather radar data, local weather information and data from several direction finders may also be processed and displayed. Flight data processing, safety net features and a surface movement guidance and control system are currently under development.
Based on the management of the complex and high-density air traffic area in Germany, DFS advises other organisations on air traffic management matters, provides training and develops and sells its own air navigation service systems worldwide. Particular emphasis is placed on emerging markets, such as the Gulf and Asia-Pacific region. In 2007, DFS controllers coordinated more than 3 million IFR flights in German airspace. With this number of flights, Germany has the highest traffic volume in Europe.
