The 10-times world-record-holder tries to break a new record at Snowworld Landgraaf
In a few days the six-chairlift in the world largest ski-dome, Snowworld Landgraaf (Netherlands), will turn around for 111 hours non-stop and will transport Christian Flühr (www.cf-1.net) to the top-station without break. Flühr will try to fix a new record from 16th-20th September 2008 on a level of 111 hours competing non-stop on skis. The record attempt is enclosed into a big event-programme with several highlights. When Christian Flühr starts in Landgraaf, it is the first step of his last year as an active ski-racer. His last three records he will attend to his girlfriend Monika Eder. She lives at the moment in Puebla, Mexico, where she studies for 5 months.af

Christian Flühr did in the past 10 records on his skis. These records are more than amazing; he skied in January 2008 outdoor 264 hours without any break in Obergurgl (Austria) and set the first indoor-record with 103 hours. The last days in front of the competition he joins at his birthday place Oberhausen with his family to calm down. “I used these days to get a clearance for myself about things in my private life. Two weeks ago I changed my intention of these records, but now I am sure I will go on in the way, it was first planned! I don’t have to demonstrate anything to anybody; I will do the last three records only for my girlfriend Monika. She is the only reason why I will do it this year again!” said Christian. Christian feels himself in a good shape and a last test of his conditional state will give a last examination at the University of Aachen on Friday, 12th September 2008.
After the examination Christian will join the brand-new Hotel at SnowWorld Landgraaf for relaxing and recreation until he will go on 16th September 2008 3:00 in the morning to his attempt. Christian is totally convinced that he will get another success and a new world-record: “Some parts of my performance come from my head and since this Wednesday I got my head free again. I will give gas and I am feeling fit. My team around me will help me to do this record.”
Beside Christian’s world record-race will be a lot of action at the ski-dome Snowworld Landgraaf. Also a female will try to set a new record. Sylvie Maier wants to 33 hours without break, some mountaineer will live around 99 hours in an igloo and the will be a world record attempt in rail sliding with ski and board and the biggest ski-class of the world. At the end of all this records will be a big party at SnowWorld Landgraaf on 20th September 2008 18:00. During the record-attempts the ski-dome is normally opened to everybody.
For Christian Flühr is his attempt at Landgraaf the first station of his fare-well tour. He will retire after this season from active-ski-racing and will go to Berlin to work for the German chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel. Before there will be two other record attempts in the snow. In January Flühr will ski more than 100 different ski lifts during on ski-days and in February he will ski 12 days without break at the last point of his career. Christian Flühr says very clear why he does this: “The last three attempts of this winter, I will do only for my girlfriend Monika Eder. I hope she will share this unique experience to be alone in the middle of the night in amazing beautiful high mountains. It is a feeling you can never get again. If everything will go the way I plane it, I will leave the stage with 13 world records. That’s definitely enough!”
