(businesspress24) - The Smartphone generation makes good use of selfie sticks - long poles that grasp their mobile phones - to take a self portrait. To the framework, backdrop and a face barely fit having a standard selfie. A stick that is selfie allows the user by moving the lens farther to fit more subjects in the framework. About two years ago, the stick that was selfie surfaced in China, and from then on, it''s been well received throughout the world. They loved by several travelers for their versatility and handiness and are undoubtedly controversial. To others, though, they may be obtrusive and narcissistic.

The terms "selfies" and "selfie sticks" are typically linked to millennials along with the current digital world. Yet, a person''s fascination with his/her own image could be traced back to centuries old. Actually, the Ancient Greek literature tells the tale of Narcissus who was so delighted when he saw his reflection on the pool''s surface which he drowned and fell indoors.

The self- portrait in photography developed jointly with its technology.

Together with the introduction of self timers and tripod cameras among other homemade gadgets as well as the kindness of strangers, self-portraiture developed farther. In 2002, the term "selfie" was first seen in a open newsgroup coined by an Australian named Hopey. It''s more easy to take a selfie with billions of individuals using tablets and smartphones now. It just takes a little practice to take a good one.

Since it''s been around for quite some time, to sum it up, the selfie is that old. In 1983, Hiroshi Ueda, a family-photo enthusiast who was employed at Minolta as an engineer, developed a device similar to the modern selfie stick. Yet, his camera got stolen in Europe. Unfortunately, this device came to be a "3 am invention", meaning it was developed before its time. It did not do well out there, as well as his patent expired. In 2005, Wayne Fromm devised the "Quick Pod", a similar gadget that will be afterwards changed by numerous producers of selfie-sticks after the trend took-away by thunderstorm in China in 2010.
