Toshiba TEC Recommends PS03a for e-STUDIO Printers and MFPs

USB Print Server PS03a by SEH Supports New Toshiba TEC Printers with UTN

Bielefeld, October 18th, 2007. – Toshiba TEC, a manufacturer of information and printing systems, has recommended the SEH print server PS03a for use with its new e-STUDIO multifunctional peripherals (MFP) to its resellers. The German specialist for network printing solutions SEH has equipped its PS print server series with the UTN (USB-to-Network) function in August to make the complete functional range of GDI printers and non-network-enabled MFPs available to the users. Tests in the Toshiba TEC European Customer Support Centre showed that the UTN function of PS03a fully supports the new GDI printers e-STUDIO166/206, the MFPs e-STUDIO167/207/237 as well as the telefax MFP e-STUDIO170F. The combination of these e-STUDIO output devices with PS03a enable new pricing options between low end USB printers and fully-fledged network printing solutions. n May Toshiba TEC launched new workstation and teamsystem MFPs of the e-STUDIO series. The entry level GDI printers e-STUDIO166/206 feature print, scan, and copy functions. The black and white MFPs e-STUDIO167/207/237 can be upgraded optionally with a fax function. With UTN users can access these devices via the network just as if they were locally connected. They benefit from the full functional range, i.e. print, scan, copy, and, in the case of e-STUDIO167/207/237, fax. As all USB print servers of the PS series feature the same software the models PS23a, PS34a, PS34a-PoE, and PS54a-G also fully support the aforementioned Toshiba TEC output devices.

Enabling Cost-Effective Network Printing Solutions
The many possibilities of using the e-STUDIO MFPs via UTN broadens Toshiba TEC's product and solution range for network printing solutions in the market, aiming at the segment between low end USB devices and high end network printing solutions. The combination of the e-STUDIO MFPs with PS03a enables significant savings compared to a fully-fledged network printer. PS03a features two USB 2.0 high speed ports and is able to connect up to five non-network-enabled MFPs with a separate powered hub. Moreover, it is possible to connect non-network-enabled USB output devices via UTN while at the same time network printers can be connected in the “normal” way as well (all print server functions are available).

"We are happy that SEH offers the PS03a print server for our TOSHIBA segment 1 and 2 product range," says Elisabeth Diaz, European Product Manager Multifunctional Products Toshiba TEC, and explains: "Thanks to this support our customers are able to share our traditional workplace MFP solutions among small networked groups. Thereby our customers are able to use their TOSHIBA systems in an optimal way."

"All our solutions aim at connecting as many output devices as possible to different network environments while offering economical advantages at the same time," explains Reinhold Clausjürgens, Director Marketing SEH. He adds: "The combination of Toshiba TECs e-STUDIO models with our UTN solution exemplifies how we realize solutions for price-sensitive markets."
