Discover the Amazon in a canoe - 17 days from Coca to Iquitos

(businesspress24.com) - This summer, Contrast Getaway Adventures is putting on something very special for adventure-loving travellers… An intrepid expedition, exploring the depths of the Amazon jungle. The starting point is Coca, Ecuador, where participants head away from all civilization in a canoe, taking them towards the jungle areas of Yasuni and Cuyabeno National Park and the tribal areas of the Kichwa and Secoya all the way to Iquitos in Peru.

A first taster of jungle life can be had in Coca, a jungle settlement, where the group can acclimatize and plan their trip to the hot volcanic source of the Papallacta. In motorboats and small wooden canoes, the journey takes the group through the heart of the natural kingdom, experiencing the breathtakingly and virtually untouched nature of the rainforest. On the way, they spend time with the indigenous Kichwa and Secoya people and share their unique way of life by cooking together and staying as guests in their huts, sleeping in comfortable hammocks or expedition beds. One of the highlights of this once in a life trip is taking part in a Shamans ceremony and trying Ayahuasca, an ancient potion, taken as part of this mystic experience. The adventure is rounded up is this trip with a ride on a freighter on the Rio Napo to Iquitos, the largest city in the world with no connection to the road network.

This expedition leaves in small groups of 4 to 8 people. This year it departs only once from 21st August to the 6th September and costs just1670€ including all transport by bus, jeep, boat, plane etc, all accommodation on a full basis and field kitchen. The trip will be accompanied by an English speaking guide as well as local nature guides and helpers.
